MEET SEAN

READY TO SERVE ON DAY ONE!

Sean Reid, who was born and raised in West Lynn, is currently a Member of the Lynn School Committee, fighting for students, families, and teachers. He also has direct experience serving in the State House as he is currently the Legislative Director Senator Brendan Crighton. In this role, he gets to work on some of the most pressing issues facing Lynn and Nahant residents.

Sean is involved in multiple organizations throughout the City including the YMCA of Metro North’s Board, the My Brother’s Table Board, the Rotary Club, the Shannon Collaborative, and Alumni & Friends of Lynn Classical. He also co-founded and serves as President of Kayak and Sail Lynn, which is a non-profit that strives to make water activities more accessible to Lynners. For the past couple of years, Sean co-organized an event that raised thousands of dollars for Thanksgiving items for those in need.

Sean attended Lynn Public Schools from K-12 (Callahan, Breed, and Classical). He later went on to graduate from North Shore Community College (A.A. in Liberal Arts) and Amherst College (B.A. in Economics). Sean was the first in his family to graduate college, as neither of his parents completed high school. While an undergraduate, he was very active as a Student Trustee on NSCC’s Board of Trustees, an on-campus tutor, a substitute teacher in the Lynn Public Schools, and a volunteer for multiple community causes and campaigns. During college, Sean also completed some high-level internships, including at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Governor’s Office.

Beyond working on tackling community issues in his professional life, Sean has also lived many of them. Sean faced many barriers growing up including poverty, housing insecurity (including living in a shelter, motels, etc.), and parents battling substance use.

Sean’s wife, Kelsey, is a life-long Lynner and Lynn Public Schools Special Education Teacher, Coach, and Union Building Representative.
